A group of teachers along with their families and friends went on a trip to Taiwan during the fourth term holidays from Dec 14 to Dec 20 last year.

The trip was organised by Halim Tours and Travel Agency.

Aimed at exposing visitors to the history, culture and lifestyles of the Taiwanese, the trip also provided them with an opportunity to relax in a foreign land.

While in the Taiwanese capital, Taipei, the visitors toured the National Palace Museum which ranks as one of the four best museums in the world. The museum holds the world's largest collection of Chinese artefacts some of which date back to 3000 BC.

They also visited the Shihlin Night Market, a lively night market which draws large crowds even on week days, Taipei 101 which is the tallest building in the world and Ximending, the trendiest shopping district in Taipei.

During the seven-day stay, the group also went to the scenic Taroko National Park, Sun Moon Lake, Chihpen Hot Springs, Tainan Chi Ku Salt Factory and Sinying Railway Cultural Park.
